Inspired by sample of Jeanne Strelff
I’ve fallen in love with bleaching and tried it on 2 cards I made using the new Measure of Life Hostess set – available as a Level 2 benefit starting in July. To make this sample I stamped the image using Staz On Black (it’s permanent and won’t be affected by the bleach!) on Sahara Sand cardstock. If you haven’t used Sahara Sand you are missing out. It takes the colour of any card stock it’s mounted with much like a cameleon would do in the wild. So cool! It goes with every colour cardstock.
Next I used my Aqua Pen (filled it with bleach in the reservoir) to bleach out the wings of the dragonfly. The Aqua Pen makes it easy and I don’t have to worry about spilling a bowl full of bleach everywhere on my work space…not that this could ever happen LOL.
I waited for the bleach to dry and gave it quick shot of heat (you can also leave it to dry completely overnight) so I could then go in and add some colour. I chose Close to Cocoa and again using the Aqua Pen (the 2nd one in the set) filled with water, I picked up the ink from the lid of our stamp pads and added some colour over top of the bleached image.
Finish it off with some sponging around the edges, a background stamp (this time it’s Canvas) with Versamark and some Gros Grain ribbon (what’s a card without ribbon! – it’s like a day without sunshine..okay maybe that’s a stretch).
Viola! A simple, elegant and very easy card. Everyone will ask "how did you do that?".
If you make a card with the bleaching technique send it to me at alisonsolven@telus.net in jpg format and I’ll load it in my customer photo album.
Happy Stamping
Alison
