I just loved reading the book "Paperbag Princess" by Robert Munsch to my daughter, Carly, when she was little. Here’s how the story goes… Elizabeth, the beautiful princess was going to marry the handsome prince named Ronald. Unfortunately, a dragon made Elizabeth’s life miserable including burning all her clothes, smashing her castle and carrying off poor Ronald. She ended up saving Ronald from the dragon but in her duel with the dragon she ended up dirty and wearing only a paper bag for a dress. Ronald told her to clean herself up and come back when she looked like a real princess. That’s when Elizabeth said "Ronald, your clothes are really pretty and your hair is very neat. You look like a real prince, but you are a bum" The didn’t get married after all. My heroine!
Have you heard of Paperbag Journals? We won’t be making paperbag dresses like Elizabeth but in my Paperbag Journal class we’ll be making little themed albums out of paper lunch bags! These are fun little albums that can be decorated for many occassions. I wonder what Elizabeth would have written? We’ll be using the Petal Patch designed paper from the Summer Mini to create a "dream" themed album. My next class teaching this technique is on June 21st at 7:00 pm in my studio.
