Stamp Crazy with Alison

Guest Speaker

December 5, 2006 by Alison Solven

Hello Stampers,

100_3664 I was really honoured when my friend and fellow SU! demo, Kristina Koch, asked me to speak at her downline meeting last night.  I’m always excited to join other SU! demonstrators at events and the enthusiasm from this crowd gave me a real charge!  They were so fun – I learned some great new techniques including one from Susan who demoed the Spritzer – very cool!

My topic was titled  "10 Things I know for Sure" which is loosely based on Oprah’s "One thing I know for Sure" column she includes in each issue of her magazine.  My "10" things grew to "15" and were some "nuggets" I’ve learned since joining Stampin’ Up! 4 1/2 years ago – along the lines of "if I knew then what I know now" approach.

I joined in their swap and got some wonderful cards – I was also thrilled to receive two cards as a thank you for attending the event – it was so sweet of these demos to think of me.

100_3667 The first card was created  by Miwa Komori and combined Simply Said (my favourite set this month) with the new Loves Me Designer Paper from the new Winter Mini catalogue.   This card is just stunning!100_3670

The second card is just beautiful and was created by Carrie Gaskin using the Woodland Cottage stamp set also from the new Winter Mini catalogue.  Carrie created the tag by combining a corner rounder punch and a round punch to simulate a tag – just brilliant!

100_3668 The last card is the thank you card I received from Kristina …. this is just a simply elegant card.  Kristina used the "blind embossing" technique for the leaves from the Artfully Asian card – this card is absolutely gorgeous in person.

Kristina also gave me a beautiful figurine by the artist Susan Lordi from the Willow Tree series.  As soon as I saw the box I got so excited.  This little angel is perfect for my house – I’ve just finished renovations and she fits in perfectly.  What a thoughtful gift!100_3673

Speaking in front of other SU! demos is a little outside my comfort zone but I’m always glad that I push myself – Stampin’ Up! is all about sharing what we love with others and I had such a great time with these other addicts…whoops…I mean stampers.

Happy Stamping!

Alison
