Stamp Crazy with Alison

Rock n’ Roll

August 30, 2007 by Alison Solven

30 Aug

Hello Stampers,

Tomorrow (Friday,August 31st) marks the 50th Anniversary of the last concert given in Canada by Elvis Presley in Vancouver (my town).  As Elvis was the "King of Rock n’ Roll" I thought I would share a card I made using the Rock n’ Roll technique.

100_58261 The stamp set is called Autumn Fest and will be available starting Sept 1st at 30% off the regular price during a new Stampin’ Up! promotion called Fall Frenzy.  When you purchase $40 in merchandise you qualify to purchase one of the following sets offered at a 30% discount:  Autumn Fest, Bitty Boos Too, Haunting Halloween, Thoroughly Thankful, Elementary Essentials, Stem Silhouetes (from the Holiday Mini).

So how do you rock n’ roll stamping style?  Here’s a quick tutorial..100_58411

First ink up your bold image 100_5842 stamp in the lighter of the 2 colours you’ve chosen – this allows the darker colour to show on the tips of the image and also eliminates the possibility of contaminating the lighter colour with the darker colour ink.

100_58431 Next angle your stamp against the 2nd colour (darker) pad so that when you roll the stamp around you only hit the tips or edges of the image.

100_58441 Then stamp on your cardstock – done!  Make sure you clean your stamp thoroughly before reinking for additional images.

100_58461 The ribbon was done using the Double Rectangle punch.  Start in the middle of the strip and punch your rectangles.

100_58481 Slide the punch up so that one of the rectangles is in the negative space created by your first punching.  Punch – you will now have 3 holes.

100_58491 Continuing sliding the punch up continuing to line up one of the rectangles with a negative punch until you have punched all the way along the strip.

100_58501 Thread the ribbon through the holes by feeding the ribbon from both end.

100_58511 Tie a knot or bow where they meet in the middle of the strip.

Happy Stamping!

Alison
