Hello Stampers,
Here are some "Wonderful You" moments from the past week. It all started last Friday when my dear friend, and downline, Debbie Tompkins flew into town for a short layover (4 hours) on her way from Port Alice to New York City to join the other SU! demonstrators on the annual cruise – this time to Bermuda! I earned the cruise but this year the family decided to take some time out from cruisin’ and we put the money towards an HDTV for all of us to enjoy – thanks SU!
My other dear friend, Sue Farrant, invited us over to stamp while we waited for Debbie’s connecting flight. We had so much fun…
Here’s Debbie & I having some stamping time.
Sue and I have a deal – when she comes to my house for lunch I make a "big salad" and salmon sandwiches. When I go to Sue’s house she makes her awesome Egg Salad sandwiches (to die for!)…she didn’t disappoint.
So while we were stamping I wanted to use a stamp set that I didn’t own but that Sue does – the Essence of Love set from the Occasions Mini catalogue. I wasn’t feeling particularly creative so I thought I would CASE a card I found on Beate’s blog. Well..have you ever had one of those days? When the image won’t stamp properly, or the cutting blade is dull, or you can’t stamp straight? It must have taken me about 2 hours to make this card! And then…I get home and I’ve left it at Sue’s house – she phones me laughing so hard because it was just the card from hell. She mails it to me and here’s her sweet note.
Isn’t this touching? Sue is Irish and my parents were Scottish so "You Gitt" translates into "You idgitt (idiot)" – affectionately of course.
So here’s the final card…phew…
You can’t really tell the colours of this card (the final nail in it’s coffin I guess LOL). It’s Certainly Celery and Pumpkin Pie. Can yous see the subtle Stitched Background stamp that Sue inked with Whisper White? Yes…she actually had to "take over" the making of this card. It’s her little butterfly too. LMAO
Okay…more "Wonderful You" moments – my darling daughter Carly turned 21 years old this week. How the heck did that happen? She has always been such an easy going sweet natured person and she’s blooming into such a wonderful woman.
Here she is with her set of Copic Markers that Sue brought all the way back from Osaka, Japan for me. Carly is in the Game Arts & Design Diploma program at a local Art School and is a "true" artist as she draws characters for Video Games. She loves the few Copic markers she already owns and was thrilled to get so many of them to play with – she’s already cracked the case!
It’s been a whirlwind week and next week my husband is travelling to Monteray, CA on business – why oh why didn’t I get my passport renewed and go with him?
Finally here is a card made using the Wonderful You stamp set and the matching Stems & Silhouettes Jumbo Wheel (currently offered in a bundle during April – you get the wheel for FREE).
I wheeled the Jumbo wheel on Vellum using the Whisper White ink cartridge. It was really juicy and I was too impatient to wait for it to dry so I embossed it with Clear EP and actually liked it better. Then I stamped the images from the Wonderful You set with Soft Sky and Blue Bayou inks. I finished is off with the sentiment mounted on the Small Oval Punch, layered on a piece of Soft Sky punched with the Large Oval Punch. It’s very fresh and springy in person.
Have a "Wonderful" weekend everyone!
Happy Stamping!
Alison
LOL..I had forgotten about the note on the card…thanks for posting that for all to see! 🙂
Carly looks adorable..what a beautiful young lady..inside and out! Can’t wait to see what she does with the markers…maybe she can give us a class and then we can justify buying some ourselves?? LOL
Thansk for the fun day too!
Your Gitt Friend! 🙂
Carly is beautiful and what a gift – Copic markers! By the way, Alison, are those SU white rub ons on your black and white jacket – LOL!
Hi Leslie,
LOL – you wouldn’t believe how many people have asked if those are rub-ons? I wish the answer was “yes” because then I would truly be talented..but alas NO. Mo brought me this shirt as a gift from Palm Springs Leadership. What a nice sister I have and what a conversation piece this top has turned out to be!
Alison
Hey Alison! I lvoe the layout of the first card. The panels and then stamped over top look great!!
P.S. I have tons of family living in New West … small world!
Debbie told me about her “lay over” stamping event with you all… we missed you on the cruise.. it was delightful! (my why is my computer swaying back and forth still?) LOL 🙂 Patty
What a great lay over that was…always such fun spending time with you…and to get to taste Sues’ famous sandwiches…lol
