Stamp Crazy with Alison

Fresh Cuts

June 11, 2008 by Alison Solven

Hello Stampers,

Just got home from an evening out with a great group of women – we went to see Sex and the City.   There was seven of us but the audience was full of groups of women (and a couple of guys) all relating to the "girls" again.  We laughed and cried.  It was just soooo good! I missed the women (Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha) and was just getting over them when along comes the movie.  Now I miss them all over again. I have so many favourite moments from the show but one of the best (and probably the only one I can mention in my blog) was when Carrie was asked to appear as a "real person" in a fashion show.  She looked fabulous until she slipped and fell on the runway – as Stanford said "fashion roadkill" (hilarious) – the other models were stepping over her but rather than slink off the stage she picked herself up and walked to the end of the runway turned and walked back – just a classic SITC moment!

When I got home I was playing with an old favourite technique called Polished Stone and the new Sneak Peak stamp set called Fresh Cuts.  I found a new technique (at least to me) where you wash a piece of glossy cardstock with water and ink refill colours and then flick a toothbrush soaked with rubbing alcohol so the colours are spread around.  Here's what I came up with…

100_6940-1 Here's the polished stone version using Pale Plum, Perfect Plum, Mellow Moss and Gold Encore refills.  The image was stamped with black Staz On.  The taffeta ribbon is decorated with a rhinestone brad.

100_6941-1 This card uses the colour wash technique – I used Perfect Plum and Mellow Moss ink refills.

Happy Stamping,

Alison
