Featured Stamp Set – Eastern Blooms

August 19, 2008 by Alison Solven

Hello Stampers,

Images Have you caught any of the Olympics?  I have to admit that I'm more of a Winter Olympics watcher – I guess since Canada is more of a Winter Sports country but I did catch Simon Whitfield's amazing performance in the Men's Triatholon last night – whoo hoo for Simon, especially since he is 32 years old.  He didn't repeat his Gold Medal performance from 2004 (or was it 2000?) but a Silver Medal is awesome!  And the next Olympics in 2010 will be here in my home town of Vancouver, BC, Canada – are you coming?

Okay…speaking of the Olympics -if the Fall-Winter Idea Book and Catalogue was an Olympic Sport then the Eastern Blooms stamp set would be a Gold Medal winner for sure – the regular price of $25.95 is fabulous value but how about another 15% off until September 30th?  That makes the stamp set $22.06!  As some of my customers would say "SHUT UP!" – that's a good thing by the way. LOL

The first card uses the Pink Pirouette cardstock and ink along with the Bella Rose Designer Papers.

I stamped the flower and branch image in the Pink Pirouette and then carefully removed the ink from the branches using a blender pen.  Just run it along the branch and then scribble on a scrap piece of paper to remove the ink.

Add the Chocolate Chip ink along the branch with a Stampin' Write Marker.

The sentiment is from A Beautiful Life stamp set and is also stamped in Chocolate Chip.

I'll be the first to admit that I went into withdrawl over the loss of the 2007 In Colours and wasn't sure I'd love the new ones but I'm hooked already – this is the Tangerine Tango and I love it!

I punched the edge of the Whisper White piece with the new Scallop Edge punch – gotta have that baby!

The white strip has some paper piercing along both edges just to add a little detail.  The flower is stamped, cut out and popped up with a Stampin' Dimensional.

Next I used Bashful Blue ink on Bashful Blue cardstock – I would have used the new Baja Breeze100_7561-1 paper but I used it all for my make n' takes on the weekend and didn't have any left – that's how much I LOVE this colour!  The ribbon is the Bashful Blue taffeta (so light and delicate) and the button is from the new Designer Button collection.

This card uses Kiwi Kiss along with Perfect Plum and the Bella Rose designer papers.  The ribbon is the 5/8" Grosgrain Chocolate Chip.

We made this adorable bookmark at Convention – the ribbon stretches upward for about 12" and is the new 5/8" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon in Pacific Point – stunning ribbon!

The square scallop is actually coloured chipboard (Kiwi Kiss ink) and the embellishment in the center of the flower is from the new Filigree Assortment of Designer Brads.

Here's another project from Convention using the Eastern Bloom 100_7557-1 stamp set – it's a little Mini Album – very adorable!

100_7566-1 This last card uses Sahara Sand along with Chocolate Chip and Bashful Blue cardstock.  The branch is stamped on Whisper White cardstock and then has a overlay of Vellum paper on top to soften the look.  I cut the rectangle frame from the Bashful Blue card using my Fiskars cutter – with practise it's really simple to do.  I added some paper piercing around the outside of the frame and finished off the card with the 5/8" Chocolate Chip Grosgrain ribbon.

Hope you enjoyed these samples and will try some of them yourself!

Happy Stamping,

Alison
