Hello Stampers,
Please check out my updated Events page for upcoming classes including a Christmas Stamp a Stack, Peek-A-Boo album and Christmas Stamp Camp. I'll also be adding a fabulous class using the Create-A-Calendar from the Mini Catalogue and a Scrapbook in a day class soon! My events can be found on my website – click here.
Back to swaps…for my East/West swap my stamp set was A Christmas Cardinal and here's my four projects:
First up is a "blue jay" instead of a cardinal. Each year a "couple" of Stellar Jays return to our yard to start their family each spring. I love these two birds and watch for them each year. Maybe it's their babies coming back but I know it's spring when they arrive home. A Stellar Jay is very similar to a Blue Jay.
This card was coloured with ink and Aqua Painters (on sale this month!) and then I used the Cracked Glass technique to finish the card.
The Vanilla frame is from the Styled Vanilla hardware.
I white embossed the cardinal image on vellum and coloured the image from the back which I call the Stained Glass technique. I added the leaf image on the Baja Breeze edge with Whisper White Craft ink and stamped the "Merry Christmas" sentiment and embossed in white.
The addition of the hat pin and pearls from the Pretties kit along with the snowflake adds the winter touch.
I used the Sizzix top note die to create these little books. They are bound with the Zutter Bind it All machine and coils. If you live in the Vancouver area and want a machine/coils email me for a great price!
The front and back covers are made with the bulk chipboard available from Stampin' Up! – just cover with designer paper or cardstock and you have a nice stiff cover. The inside pages are cut from Vanilla Cardstock and the ink colour is also Vanilla.
My last card uses the Sky Slope designer paper and the new Riding Hood Red taffeta ribbon.
This time I stamped the image in Staz On ink on Watercolour Paper and coloured with ink and the aqua painter.
This last card is from my downline, Shirley Zaniol – so pretty. It's simple but elegant – my favourite kinds of cards!
Happy Stamping,
Alison
