Hello Stampers,
This isn't stamping related but I have to put something in occasionally for my friends/family who sometimes visit my blog. LOL
Hope you all had a lovely Victoria Day long weekend (if you live in Canada!). We spent the weekend being tourists in our own town – and what a beautiful town we live in here in Vancouver!
On Saturday we rented bikes in Stanley Park and then cycled all the way to Granville Island – believe me it's a longgggg way around because none of us wanted to venture over the many bridges connecting one side of Vancouver to the other. So that meant the long trek around by land. We also forgot to bring our cameras so no pictures.
On Sunday we left early and drove to Whistler – the home of the 2010 Winter Olympics – it was a beautiful sunny, warm day and we enjoyed the drive on the new Sea to Sky Highway connecting the North Shore to Whistler.
Here we are at Shannon Falls just before Squamish. When I was younger my father was the Engineer at Carling's Brewery and this is where they got the spring water for their Heidelberg beer (no kidding) and once every month we would drive up here on a Sunday afternoon so my Dad could check out the water house – I thought it was boring of course. My Dad passed away when I was a teenager so now I feel a special affection for this spot! If my sister's are reading this they are smiling. 🙂
Carling's donated the area to the Provincial Government and now it's a Provincial Park.
Here's a picture of the falls – just like I remember them. Too bad you can't capture the roar of the water in a picture – it's deafening at times but such a powerful example of nature!
We also went to Whistler but those pictures will have to wait until next time as they are on my daughter's camera!
Happy Stamping,
Alison
