Big Shot Club!

September 7, 2009 by Alison Solven

Hello Stampers,

It's been a busy few weeks and I'm hoping to get into a routine now that September is here!

Last week I had my Big Shot Club and we focussed on one of the dies I hadn't used much before – at least not in this way.  It's called the Petal Card but it can be used for much more than just a simple "card".

Bigwinner.outside First we made a card using the die as a "pouch" on the front.

The original card (when we sat down at club LOL) was meant to be a "You're Invited" to a Poker Party or Card Party but Janice had an awesome idea to use it for a lottery ticket and used "Happy Birthday" as her sentiment.  Then Arlene thought that Big Winner and Jackpot would be great to use with the Lottery Ticket idea….and so the card evolved.

Sets used are Compliments to the Chef and Game Night along with the Jackpot DP.

When you open the Petal Card you can reveal your message – this could be sent to my nephew Andrew who won some dough in Las Vegas recently.

Then I was "surfing" the internet looking for other ideas I could incorporate with the Petal Card and came across this idea on 2 different blogs – using the Petal Card die to make a box – so brilliant of these women!  Here's the posts – Elaine and Ilina I used for my inspiration.

Here's all the little boxes I made using their tips.  My favourite was the wedding box favour – I used the "dove" Movers & Shapers die to create the opening and then used the cut out to create the "tag".

Wedding.box Here's a close up of the box.

I used the new Bride and Groom DP on the sides.  If you line up the DP on one of the Petal Card pieces and then run them both through the Movers & Shapers at the same time you will be able to line up the images easily.  A little piece of acetate behind the dove makes it usable for a gift box.  I thought it would be nice on the table as the gift for guests attending your wedding.

Baby.box Another idea I came up with was for a baby gift or as a thank you at a baby shower.  The box reminded me of a "block" and so I just spelled out "Baby" with the Serif Essentials Alphabet on each side.  I used the 1/2 pearls from the Pretties Kit along with a dressed up hat pin to finish it off.

Happy Stamping,

Alison

This is great! Thank you for sharing the 2 blogs. Now I have a perfect box for the diaper cake I am going to make. I’ll make it bigger. =)
