Stamp Crazy with Alison

Organization 2010

January 3, 2010 by Alison Solven

Hello Stampers,

I posted a picture the other day of my new improved studio and I've had a few requests for more pictures so here goes…

STUDIOPICS 041-1 This is a picture of my work tables which can now comfortably seat eight stampers plus me!

STUDIOPICS 042-1

These are my cabinets that hold my papers and stamps along one wall.  The first cabinet is my computer/business desk.  I like the fact that I can close the doors to hide the "mess" when I have clubs and classes.  All my business papers and computer hide away in here.

STUDIOPICS 045-1 This is the "view" from the back door towards my computer desk.  You can see the rows of punches, my ink carousel, cutters and ribbons that fit nicely on top of my rolling file cabinets.

The far end is my computer desk and then my wall of punches, ribbons, etc. The next cabinet holds my 12 x 12 cardstock, Sissix dies and equipment and stamp sets (see detail pictures below of these cupboards).

The next cabinet holds my boxes of card samples, drawers have my Stampin' Around Wheels and embellishments, next cabinet holds my bins of scraps and the bottom drawer is my filing cabinet for paperwork.

STUDIOPICS 046-1  You can see some tall drawers to the left of the picture.  I have two side-by side set of drawers that I got years ago at IKEA.  I use these for my 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock which drives my friend Sue nuts LOL but it works for me.  Each of the little drawers has paper that I use alot – like Vanilla and White.  The larger drawers on the bottom are used for my colour family cardstock.  I assign two drawers to each colour group so six colours in each drawer.  The drawers are labelled with the colours so I can easily find the paper.

STUDIOPICS 052 I found these neat organizing cubes for my Bigz dies which allow easy storage and I can easily find the die I want – they are in alphabetical order.  Much easier than flipping through them all every time.

STUDIOPICS 049-1 Here's a picture of the rest of the cabinet – the Stampin' Up! alphabet dies (Go Go Boots and Timeless Type) come in these neat little boxes and then I purchased the other boxes for my Embosslits, Sizzlets and Decorative Strip dies.  My Bigz XL dies are stored on the side back to back.  They are just waiting for my assistant Farah to label on the ends.

STUDIOPICS 050 Just above the dies is my 12 x 12 cardstock and Designer Papers – labelling the containers helps me find the paper easily.  I also have room to store my Big Shot when I'm not using it (which isn't often!)

STUDIOPICS 051 Below the dies are two shelves for my stamp sets – just stacked in alphabetical order – works well for me because I know the names of my sets (mostly!) so I can find them easily.

STUDIOPICS 048-1 Between my tall cabinets and my computer desk are my two rolling file cabinets which are perfect for my cutters, ribbon and ink carousel.

STUDIOPICS 054  In this shot you can see the cabinet open and at the end of the row is my printer table with storage underneath for my rolling bags when I go out to workshops and classes.  The cabinet below the printer holds some business supplies and printer supplies.

Hopefully that give those of you who asked for more pictures a better look at my space – it sure feels bigger than the old configuration and hopefully my customers will like it too!

Happy Stamping,

Alison
