Stamp Crazy with Alison

Shabby Chic Christmas

August 26, 2010 by Alison Solven

DSC02179-1 Hello Stampers,

Long before Stampin' Up! my sister and I loved collage style stamping but we kinda moved away from it over the years.  Now with so many collage/vintage/shabby chic style stamps and accessories available from Stampin' Up! I'm rediscovering my love of this style!

This card uses a new stamp from the Holiday Mini (have your received your copy yet?  If not let me know and I'll get one out to you asap!) called Christmas Collage.  All the work has been done for you – you just have to ink and stamp.

I inked the stamp in Versamark and embossed it in white.  Then I used a sponge and ink – Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke, Crumb Cake and Chocolate Chip – to add colour.  The embossed image resists the ink.  Next I tore the edges and distressed it with the Cutter Kit and the sanding block from the new Distressing kit.  Next I lightly spritzed the paper with water and crumpled it up in a ball and then smoothed it out again.

Layer this on a piece of torn, distressed and crumpled Always Artichoke cardstock.

Wrap the fabulous new Victorian or Chantilly Lace ribbon around the front and tie in a knot.  Add the little safety pin from the Trinkets to finish off the shabby chic look.

The ribbon flower was taught to us at Convention and my customers and I have had fun making them – they are quite addicting.  The center brad is from the Antique Brads collection – I'm on my third container of these embellishments!

The sentiment is from A Cardinal Christmas stamp set and has been punched out with the new and fabulous Decorative Label punch from the Holiday Mini.

The finished image is adhered to a Crumb Cake base which has been stamped with the Wonderfully Worn background stamp.

Hope you'll try some Shabby Chic designs of your own!  We'll be making this card at my Kris Kringle Stamp Camp – A Christmas Past class.

Sorry for the picture quality – I couldn't drag my lightbox out tonight but here's the same technique on a Tri-Shutter Christmas album.

Happy Stamping,

Alison
