Hello Stampers,
At our last Technique Club we made a card with the Split Negative technique. This technique is really effective and not difficult to accomplish. You don’t need a symmentrical image – any image will work.
You will need 2 colours of cardstock – one will be a neutral (white or vanilla) and the other will match the colour of embossing powder you are using on this piece.
For this sample I used the Cherry Cobbler EP on the Whisper White cardstock and I used the White EP on the Cheery Cobbler cardstock. You will have enough pieces to make 2 cards because you’ll use 1/2 of each piece on the card.Cut the image in 1/2 and put it together with the opposite colour.
I find that if I cut the cardstock to the size of the block it’s much easier to match up the pieces. In the case of the heart I cut the images in 1/2 and attached them to another piece. Then I ran it through the Big Shot using the Hearts Framelits.
This was the card I gave my husband for Valentine’s Day – I made another one for my son’s girlfriend too. Good for men and women!
Here’s a video showcasing the card and this technique!
Happy Stamping,
Alison
