I looked back into the archives and found a tutorial sharing how to create the Faux Wood technique which I think is FAUX FANTASTIC! Enjoy!
Start with a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock (or any colour you want).
Using the Direct to Paper technique apply Whisper White craft ink to the paper by dragging it down in one direction. Let dry.
Use a toothbrush and reinkers to create your woodgrain. Place a few drops of ink refill onto a disposable plate (I used Crumb Cake and Chocolate Chip).
Pick up the lightest colour with your toothbrush bristles and drag it down the cardstock (keep to one direction).
You can start the next row a little bit lower than the first so you don't end up with a blob of ink in the same place on your cardstock each time. Repeat with the darker ink colour.
Cut the pieces into 3/4" strips.
Cut each strip into smaller pieces (each strip should be cut in 2 pieces) at varying lengths.
Use the Direct to Paper technique to add chocolate chip ink to all four sides of each strip of "wood".
Affix the pieces to a second piece of Crumb Cake cardstock staggering the lengths to look like planks of wood.
Add "nail heads" and other markings with a Chocolate Chip or Black marker.
Here's the finished card…
This card uses the For Father stamp set from the Occasions Mini catalogue and the sentiment from Sincere Salutations (both have since retired but you could use the truck from Countryside and any salutation).
Happy Stamping!
