Hello Stampers,
First I apologise for the delay in my Technique Tuesday video. I pulled a muscle in my neck and that pinched a nerve which laid me up for the past week – no work for me so instead of Technique Tuesday it was Traction Tuesday. I'm feeling better each day and hope to be "right as rain" in another week or so. I did get my video done this week and while it's a few days late I hope you'll forgive me and enjoy learning how to create this card for yourself!
I'm loving the Swallowtail stamp and have made several beautiful cards using the large single stamp. When I first saw it in the Spring Catalogue I did think it was too big and it didn't appeal to me. But when I inked it up for the first time, stamped it and saw all the gorgeous detail I was in LOVE! It's truly one of those images that you actually sigh when you see how beautiful it is on the page.
Here's one of the cards I made (this class will be offered at our Crafter's Retreat on April 27th)
This takes a bit of patience to cut out the layers but it is so worth it in the end.
I started by stamping the En Francais stamp set in crumb cake ink on Very Vanilla cardstock.
Then I stamped the butterfly using Midnight Muse ink over top. It's nice to sponge the Crumb Cake ink around the outside of the piece just to give it a more vintage look.
Next I stamped the butterfly image three more times on scrap pieces of Very Vanilla cardstock.
I cut out one complete image and popped it up on top of the original with Stampin' Dimensionals. The next layer was only a part of the butterfly which I line up over the 2nd one and popped up with the dimensionals.
Lastly the top layer was just the piece closest to the thorax of the butterfly which was again popped up. It looks gorgeous in person!
Here's a close up of the different layers.
For the final look I did spray it with Gold Spritz just to give it a vintage look.
You can order all the supplies at my online store or you can email me and I'll place the order for you.
If you've never tried Paper Toile I hope you will – check out the many images in our catalogue that would work with this technique and have fun!
Here's the video with the "how to" create this for yourself!
If you really love this set and want to make this card along with three other beautiful ones please join me at my Saturday, May 11th class at 10:30 am – details in my upcoming newsletter – email to sign up!
Happy Stamping!
