Stamp Crazy with Alison

Easy Peasy Card Making with a Sketch!

June 27, 2015 by Alison Solven

27 Jun

Hello Stampers,

It's Border Buddy Saturday today and I wanted to share a fun challenge with our readers today.  I created a sketch template for a card and designed two cards using the sketch.  What's a sketch template?  Well, it's basically a template you can use to create a card.  No guessing about where to put stuff – just fill in each piece with Designer Paper, cardstock, stamping or whatever you like and then build it to match the sktech.  Where you see a black line that piece is meant to be matted.

Here's the sketch (click on image for larger view of dimensions)

My first card features the Summer Silhouettes stamp set (an oldie but goodie) along with my favourite new Designer paper – English Garden.  Summer Silhouettes is one of the stamp sets Patsy and I are featuring in this month's Border Buddy Classes and free card program.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for providing the measurements for the sketch!! I haven’t seen this done since the 411 sketches. Definitely will be trying this out!

Alison, oh, this is a wonderful sketch. Thanks for sharing the measurements. I meet up with a group of ladies to stamp and make cards, and I am sure they are going to love your sketch. I am going to pass on your blog site, too. Thanks for sharing and the inspiration.

I LOVE that your sketch included the dimensions. Usually I find a sketch that I want to use and have to try to figure out the right sizes to cut everything. Do you have a source that you could share of sketches with the measurements or do you design your own? I really like your “Summery” version.

    Hi Debra,

Thank you so much for your kind comments. I’m really glad you liked the measurements. I just had a card that I liked the layout so I just created the sketch based on that card. I appreciate when the measurements are included so I figured others would too! Patsy and I have something fun planned for a monthly sketch so keep visiting our blogs for that announcement soon!
