Handmade Christmas Cards in the Mail!

December 22, 2015 by Alison Solven

22 Dec

Hello Stampers,

In our fast paced world of texts, skype, facetime and Facebook we sometimes forget how special it is to receive a handmade card in the mail.  We all get busy but you can help yourself by making cards ahead of time and having them ready for any occasion.

I'm always so fortunate to receive handmade Christmas cards in the mail and I so appreciate the time it took the sender to make it and mail it.  I can't showcase all the cards I've received and I love them ALL but I did want to show you some special ones I received this year.

Silent Night Vicki Card

This one is from one of my long time club members, Vicki Drovinz, and it's so beautiful.  I really love all the layering and textures Vicki included in the card along with the non-traditional colour for the holiday.  Isn't this pretty?

Peaceful pines card

I really love the trees made of the different cardstocks – Gold Glimmer, Vellum and Kraft Corrugated Paper because it adds so much interest in dimension and texture.  I also love how the sentiment is mounted on the same Gold Glimmer paper which makes it pop and balances with the little strip along the bottom of the card.  It's perfect!

Here are the supplies Arlene used in her card:

Love the technique on the card from Vicki. Is the trees stamped on white CS and then the dotted is embossed on the vellum? I have never used Vellum.

    Thanks Lora

    Hi,

Yes Vicki stamped the trees on Whisper White and then embossed the vellum and placed it over the stamped image. Very effective – you need to try it yourself!
