Border Buddy Saturday – 12 Weeks of Christmas Series – Week 2

October 15, 2016 by Patsy Waggoner

15 Oct

Hello Stampers,

Border Buddy Saturday, Patsy here and it is our 2nd week of the 12 weeks of Christmas.

Mice, while I don't want them residing in my house, I have always thought they were cute.  When I was engaged to Tom I purchase a little mouse and groom Christmas ornaments  and wanted to put them on my wedding cake.  My mom didn't think that was such a good idea since Tom's Mom was making the cake and my Mom didn't want to offend her.

After 40+ years of knowing my Mother-in-law (who by the way is the greatest, not only did I hit the jackpot for a husband I got a terrific MIL to boot) I know she would have thought it was cute.

I still have those little mice ornaments and hang them on the Christmas Tree every year and treasure them.  I will try to remember to take a picture when I decorate the tree this year and share them with you.  Well back to my real point…

When I saw this stamp set I KNEW I had to have it.  After all it is filled with the cutest little mice you ever did see.

This little row of creatures all ready to decorate the tree is one of the three different mice stamps in the set.  I stamped these little guys with Stazon Black Ink.  Then I squeezed the lid of my ink pad, opened it up and took a blender pen and started to color, always leaving a touch of white for dimension.

The card base is Cherry Cobbler and the patterned paper is from the Christmas Specialty Paper in the Annual Stampin' Up! Catalog.  It is a little more light weight than our regular patterned paper so really great for making coordinating envelopes.  The little stars are cut out with the star from the Perfect Pines Framelits and Gold Glimmer Paper.

Now I know you aren't always in the mood to color and you might think you need to, but you don't.  Simply stamp these fun mice on colored cardstock and you are good to go.

The bottom of the Crumb Cake paper is punched with the Confetti Star Border Punch and I tucked some Silver Glimmer Paper on the backside with it peeking through the front.

Here again I didn't color the entire mouse just highlighted the Christmas bulb with Real Red Stampin' Write Marker making this a quick and easy, clean and simple card to make for sending out this Holiday Season.

This is one of the cards that is featured in the October Border Buddies PDF Card Tutorial.  Each month we feature 2 stamp sets with 4 cards from each set.
