Stamp Crazy with Alison

Card Swap Sunday – Smitten Mittens

October 1, 2017 by Alison Solven

1 Oct

It's Card Swap Sunday, the day I share a card that I've created for a swap or received in a swap.  Today I'm share this super adorable card by my friend Lisa Althouse.  I don't own the Smitten Mittens stamp set and Many Mittens Framelits Dies myself but of course when I opened the envelope and saw this cutie I might have to break down and buy it. When you purchase them together you save 10%!

Lisa used colours that aren't a traditional Christmas combination but it sure works on this card with Blushing Bride and Basic Grey.  Love the additional of the Smoky Slate 1/2" Gingham Ribbon.

Did you every have the "string" attached to your mittens, where you threaded it through your coat sleeves so if you wanted to take off your mitts you didn't lose them? Do kids still have those on their mittens? I grew up in Ontario and you were always having to take on and off your gloves so it worked for us!

Yes, I wore mittens with strings that my grandma knit for me as child. I did a bit of my growing up in Manitoba.

What a darling card! I love the three- d effect of the card.

I had mitten clips when I was young, but my kids had mittens attached to string…..loved knowing that they’d never lose a mitten, and the mittens could hang out of the coat to dry instead of being stuffed in a pocket.
Love the pink and grey on the card!!!

And my mittens were wool so they’d get wet and then ice would form on them. LOL

Cute card, lovely colour combo. I grew up in Ontario too and My Mum knit all my mittens and my daughter’s when she was young, with the string I remember too sometimes, going through my jacket.
