Stamp Crazy with Alison

Just in Case – Southern Serenade inspired by Remarkable You!

March 8, 2018 by Alison Solven

8 Mar

It's Just in Case Thursday! This is a weekly series where Patsy Waggoner and I share a card inspired by a project in one of our current publications. Sometimes we CASE (copy and share everything) exactly and sometimes we use it as a starting point to create a totally different card!

Today I was inspired by a card on page 143 from the Annual Catalogue using the Remarkable You stamp set. Here is the card by the concept artist at Stampin' Up!

And here is my card using this sketch with the Southern Serenade Stamp Set from the Occasions Catalogue.

I used the lacy background stamp in the set and inked with the three colours by sponging them on..once they are on the stamp use another sponge to lightly blend them where they meet.  Colours used are the same as in the catalogue sample but because they are sponged they are much lighter in hue.

I love the rustic look of this card and it's easy to achieve using the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack.  This collection of patterned papers that look like real wood is fabulous! Would you have thought to use it with a flower image? I also used the 5/8" Burlap Ribbon for my bow.  I just cut off the salvage edge and unravelled a few strings.  It's a bit thicker than our Linen Thread and I wanted something that was a bit more rustic.

Make sure to sign up for my newsletter – I send out the instructions for my Just in Case cards every Sunday in an email.

Would you like to receive my Just in Case cards in the mail? If you live in Canada just comment on any post throughout the month and be entered in a draw! Read about it here in my blog post.
