Stamp Crazy with Alison

Bling…SU! style

December 12, 2006 by Alison Solven

12 Dec

Well I’m officially stuck on glitter or should I say…it’s stuck on me! – dazzling diamonds to be specific.  It’s everywhere in my house – even my dog has glitter on his face.  I was using it on my Christmas cards this year – my husband said to me last night – "did you know that you have sparkles everywhere on your face".  LOL

My friend, Liane Binder, got me hooked on the packing tape/dazzling diamonds technique.  I guess the technical name would be "Glitter Window".  It’s so easy to do so I don’t know why I resisted for so long.

100_3694 This was one of Liane’s creations using the Flower Filled set.  Liane says the secret to making a great card is to use vibrant colours behind the window.  In this case, she used Lovely Lilac, Tempting Turquoise and Green Galore – all Bold Bright colours.

The technique is simple to do…punch out your opening to fit the size and shape of your image – in this case we used the 1 1/4" " square punch and moved it along to create a larger rectangular opening.

Place the card face down on a table (or surface where the tape won’t stick) and place a piece of packing tape over the opening so the sticky side is down on the table.  You can easily peel it off the table and turn it over.  Now sprinkle the Dazzling Diamond Glitter over the tape (you are working from the front of the card) and rub it into the tape.  Use a flat watercolour brush and brush off any excess glitter – it’ll only stick to where there is tape so don’t be shy about really giving it a good brushing.  Attach the image to the back so it can be seen through the opening and complete your card.  Simple!

This card was made using the It’s Snowtime stamp set and the Snowman really does look like he is in a snow storm.

Well I guess it’s true what they say…diamonds really are a girl’s best friend!

Happy Stamping!

Alison
