Hi Stampers,
It seems like forever since I’ve posted but our family was away enjoying my FREE Panama Canal Cruise.
Over the next several days I’ll post some pictures of our experience and some exciting new additions to Stampin’ Up! products coming in July.
Here’s our ship – the Holland America Zuiderdam – docked off their private island (Half Moon Cay) in the Bahama. The sand was like Talcum powder and the colour of the ocean was like…well…Cool Caribean. LOL
Here’s the Gatun Lake locks at the Panama Canal. This experience was amazing. To think they were completed in 1914 makes the engineering feat even more spectacular.
This is the ship that went through the locks before us. You can see how the the ship is raised up to reach the level of the water in Gatun Lake which is 85 feet higher than the water level in the Caribbean. It takes 3 separate locks to raise the ships up and each ship this size displaces approx 85 million gallons of water. The price for our ship to go through the locks (return trip) was $200,000.
This is a Pelican I saw on the pier in Fort Lauderdale. I love these birds!
It was a once in a lifetime experience – the beauty, the sun, the history and the thrill of experiencing one of the 8 Wonders of the Modern World!
Happy Stamping,
Alison
Welcome back! Can not wait to see ALL the photos and hear ALL the stories! Sounds like you had a grand time!
