World Card Making Day!

August 17, 2007 by Alison Solven

17 Aug

Hello Stampers,

Worldcardmakingdayoct6_2  When I was at Stampin’ Up!’s Convention in Denver, CO, in July I learned about a special day of the year devoted to Card Making…sounded even better than Mother’s Day to me.

It’s on the first Saturday in the month of October, which for Canadians makes it our Thanksgiving Long Weeked so the timing isn’t great.  BUT…that won’t stop me from planning something special  for the day – I’m not sure just what I’m going to do yet but please set aside Saturday, October 6th for an event honouring World Card Making Day.

I do know that I want to  tie in the theme of "Thanksgiving" and being thankful for our health, friends & family.  I also know that I will be including a "service" theme and have decided on Ronald McDonald House because it’s Stampin’ Up!’s charity of choice and we have a House in Vancouver.

Details will follow soon…but set aside the day!

Here’s some more information about World Card Making Day…

WHAT

World Card Making Day is a holiday especially for card makers around the world to:

  • Celebrate the creativity of handmade cards and the personal connection that they create between friends and family
  • Kick off (and get a head start on) the holiday card-making season
  • WHEN

The first Saturday of each October, kicking off the holiday card-making season, the most popular time for creating and sharing handmade greetings.

    WHO

The card-making community worldwide, including hobbyists, beginning card makers, manufacturers of card-making products, retail sellers of products, educators, and press are invited to come together to celebrate this holiday and creative passion.

    WHY

It is a day to connect with fellow card makers both near and far, to applaud the creativity that powers the craft, and to provide an opportunity for card makers to connect and find resources that will empower, inspire, and encourage them in their card making.

    Happy Stamping!

    Alison
