Chopped…Stampin’ Up! Style

December 11, 2013 by Alison Solven

11 Dec

Hello Stampers,

Each year I host a Christmas/Holiday Party for members of my Canada Inks Up! team (that's my group Stampin' Up! name) and we always have a shoebox swap, gift exchange (handmade items) and, of course, food!

This year's game was based on the cooking show "Chopped".  It was hilarious – very competitive and showed off the creative talents of my team!

Here's how it worked:

We had two teams of eight participants – Team Santa and Team Rudolph.  Each team choose four members to play the game – the other members were the support people for them.  Then the four people from each group broke into teams of 2 – so we had four teams of 2 people. They were judged on creativity, originality, technique and whether they used all the items in the "basket".  Each basket contained "almost identical" items.  We also had a "pantry" that had punches and other items they could use.

After the alloted time the "judges" critiqued their work after each team "presented" their dish including a "story" of what their inspiration was for their card.

So that everyone was involved the remaining members of the larger team were their "runners" who could do things in the pantry like punching and cutting.

DSC_0102Round #1 – the "basket" contained stamps, inks, ribbon, Embossing Folder, brads, cardstock.  They had 10 minutes to create a project using the items.

Sorry – one card is hidden but you get the idea.

One team was "chopped" which wasn't an easy decision!

Round #2 – cardstock, dSP, ink, ribbon, 3" x 3" envelope, doily and stamps – 8 minutes for this round

Another hard decision but someone had to be "chopped"

Round #3 – only 2 teams left!  Stamps, ink, ribbon, Burlap, DSP, Washi tape, cardstock – 7 minutes for this round!

Congratulations to all our participants – Chris Kennedy, Melissa Illagan, Kathleen Blom, Ginny Duncan, Farah Byrne and Melva Peters. And to the winners – Courtney Belanger and Leslie Holland.  Amazing creations!!

Courtney and Leslie won product from the new Occasions Catalogue and all members of their Team Rudolph also won little prizes too!

Thank you to my amazing team of demonstrators – near and far – for making my "job" the best ever!
