A Little Frayed…

June 1, 2007 by Alison Solven

Hello Stampers,

My friend, Sue Farrant, demonstrated the Frayed Ribbon technique at the Vancouver Regional Conference and it was truly a WOW.  I’m now completely addicted to this fun technique.  Here’s a quick tutorial – sorry for my chewed up nails – I’ve been doing a lot of gardening and it’s a casualty of the battle of the weeds.

100_5190 Step 1 – start with a piece of Gros Grain Ribbon, scissors and your paper piercing tool.

100_5191_2 Step 2 – cut off one edge of the ribbon.

100_5194 Step 3 – loosen the fibers with your paper piercing tool (Sue’s tip).

100_5197 Step 4 – pull away the fibers with your fingers by grabbing the loose ends and pulling away from the other edge.

100_5198_2 Step 5 – This leaves you with the fibers and a great little fringe that can also be used in projects!  Thanks Sue for introducing me to this fun and easy embellishment.

Here are some of my cards that our Stamping Club made using the Frayed Ribbon Technique.

Happy Stamping!
