Today's card features the stamp set Mediterranean Moments which was designed by our concept artists with inspiration from Susan Nygaard on the occasion of her Million Sales Achievement. I joined Susan and other Stampin' Demonstrator from around the world in May, 2016 for a cruise that took us to Spain, Italy and France. It was especially lovely for my husband and I because our daughter Carly joined us on this amazing vacation. Did you know that's how Patsy and I met? We both earned a cruise through our Stampin' Up! businesses and we just clicked and have been friends ever since. It truly is more than just stamps when you become part of the amazing Stampin' Up! community!
The beautiful scenery we saw on our travels was the inspiration for Susan's vision. The beautiful sentiment is from Beautiful You in the Occasions Catalogue.
I love watercoloring because it relaxes me and it's good mental health therapy.
Here's how I coloured in the image in today's card. I stamped the image on Shimmery White cardstock with Basic Black Archival ink (you can also use StazOn). Then I scribbed my pencil on a scrap piece of Watercolor Paper (hard to transfer lots of pigment) and then added water with my Aqua Painter. I find this technique works well for me because I can control the colour easier. You can also blend two or more colours to create a new colour if you wish. You can see how I dragged the green into the yellow in my palette above to create a lighter green.
The I just layered the colours on my image and left some white spaces to mimic watercolouring. The Shimmery White has a nice surface that doesn't "pill" when you add water as easily as other cardstock.
